Chrissie Mayo (Savi) was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, Nov 1946. She had a lifelong interest in art, drawing at a early age and in her late teens produced a series of wall sculptures using builders nails hammered into blockwood. See her portrait of Churchill.
Her career was varied, originally trained as a display artist she moved on to work as a photographic stylist, model, librarian, nanny, hotel management and eventually with her husband in Manchester built a retail business with four shops in the North West.
Chrissie never fulfilled her dream to be a full time artist but practiced her art throughout her life until in 2006 she decided to study for a BA Fine Art Degree. Dreams do not always come true, 6 months after being accepted at Carlisle University she was diagnosed with cancer, she spent the next 4yrs fighting the disease on chemotherapy while studying and working hard for her degree which she got in 2010. Chrissie died in July 2011and this page shows some of her work.
